allaire: (oz-kiss)

The good news: I finally got rid of my old apartment! Including the kitchen (well, minus the gas oven, but the janitor agreed to take it, and I don't care what he does with it as long as it's out of my sight), the carpets, and the rest. Yay! The new tenant is a woman in her sixties who'll be forced to move out of her old apartment due to renovations, and therefore didn't have much choice -- same landlord. Since she's not so terribly steady on her feet and did, in fact, stumble down the last steps of the staircase (but refused to go to see a doctor), my apartment which is on the second floor isn't the best possible solution. Ordinarily, I could go on about something like that for ages, but after all I went through with this apartment, I'm just mightily relieved that, for me, it's over. Case closed. Don't wanna think about it anymore, EVER. <big relieved sigh>

Less good news: I spent Saturday in bed due to another violent fit of migraine. I just got up for meals and for thumbing through my US-travel catalogues, plotting [livejournal.com profile] mabiana's and my vacation in California (Escapade 2003, here we come!) next February. I hardly slept more than perhaps two hours that night, too, pressing a cold facecloth against my temples and eyes. Gah.

Then, finally, the bad news: I'd just switched on my computer to learn that [livejournal.com profile] mabiana won't be able to come with me to the US next year, since it's too expensive. <sigh> Now I'm desperately searching for another fan willing to accompany me to Escapade (Feb. 21st to 23rd, 2002), to join me in discovering California by rented car for the next four days, to then join an organized bus traveling group (for 9 or 10 days, depending on the route). Darn. I wanted to book the flights and the rest this week. Now what?

Last, but not least: mamoru came over today to help me reformat my computer; we installed Windows XP. Problem: The CD ROM drives still behave erratically; one time they do recognize the CD, the next time they don't. Hmpf. Does that mean my computer's toast?!
I spent the last two hours playing around with Netscape; now, finally, I have all my profiles back. Phew. I'll face NERO tomorrow. If I still can't burn, I think I'll just dissolve into angry tears. Good thing I don't own an axe, or else this thing wouldn't be toast, but rather mincemeat.
Hey, on the other hand, I now can download episodes via FTP. Wow. A whole new experience. But, wait -- I learnt how to do that on Friday, via ME... who knows if/how it works now?!

Argh. Computers. You can't live without one, and with one, you slowly go insane.
