Suffice it to say that computers are evil monsters from outer space, and that computer support people are not half as much a gift from god as you may think. I now have a new mainboard, even another version of XP installed, and wasn't able to access the 'net since the guy showed up on Monday. Now, after two to three hours of angry tears, furious screams and death threats to this infernal machine I feel slightly less dumb since I finally, finally, can surf the web again. Don't ask me what the whole action entailed -- I doubt I could repeat it. Anyway, now I can burn CDs again (thank you, God!), but my DVD drive is still on the fritz. I'll wait with the installation of all programs that aren't exactly vital until mamoru has helped me install the correct Windows version again on Thursday. She has the patience of a saint. <g>
P.S.: I'm prone to self-mutilation -- if not for nail polish, I wouldn't have any nails left after this whole computer fiasco. Argh.
The migraine on Monday didn't help matters any. I only slept about one hour the night before and called in sick. I know it might look less than perfect since everyone knew I'd be having over that computer guy for the much-needed surgery <eg> the same morning. But I was sufficiently beside myself on Monday to not care anymore.
Thank God I have two hard drives, so I could save all important data. Plus my e-mails. Ooof.
Well, I promised myself I wouldn't go on ages about the computer thing -- see how well I succeeded. Not. ;-) Ok, enough.
Still can't access Pointy's.
On a more positive note, I sincerely believe that Kathy Troccoli is a goddess! Just listen to her "Psalm 23" and tell me you've ever encountered something more beautiful. <dreamy sigh>
Things like that keep me sane.
And yes, there's a surprising variety of Christian Rock/Pop/White Metal/Ballads to be found on KaZaA. ;-)
Oh, and I'll be gaming again in the D&D universe tomorrow! I still need to finish the account of our last adventure (at work, yeah, I know, but...) -- witches, mythical lakes, intoxicating flowers, attacking reptile men and magic gates, here we come!
