"Ghost of the Robot" and other ghosts

On Friday, [livejournal.com profile] moonilicious came all the way from M. to meet with me and [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx so that we could see James Marsters' band "Ghost of the Robot" (for further information see here) in concert.

[livejournal.com profile] moonilicious was the only one of us intrepid (and willing to pay the higher fee *g*) enough to have bought a 'special audience' ticket beforehand, so she had to be there about an hour earlier to meet the band (and, of course, JM), while [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx hung around in the slowly growing crowd of mainly female fans gathering outside and waiting to be let in. Surprisingly, [livejournal.com profile] mareen's dire predictions didn't come true since the average fan was older than fourteen and did neither carry teddy bears nor underwear to throw at the stage. Imagine my relief.

All in all, it was far less embarrassing than I'd feared. JM still can't sing (or rather: hold a note) all that well, but it was still an experience. *g* They only played an hour, though. Well, with only one album released that was kind of understandable, although still a bit disappointing.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] moonilicious has shot a couple of pictures; you can take a closer look at GotR in concert here. And it was nice having her over for two days. *hugs moonie*

@[livejournal.com profile] moonilicious, see, the whole train thing wasn't that bad, was it? :-)

Unfortunately, I almost had to kick her out on Saturday 'cause I had promised to meet three friends, colleagues and former co-students in W. where I used to work and live for 3 1/2 years. I kept feeling quite nostalgic the whole evening. I hadn't seen Kerstin for at least a year, and we'd been best friends during university. Damn, I've missed her! But she has always been so awfully home-loving; she and her fiancé are almost finished with the building of their house, and she proudly showed the pictures around. I just wish she could look over the rim of her teacup once and see that the world doesn't begin and end with family alone. Argh. Still, I hope we'll repeat that some day.
