hope is red
(and red is beautiful)
i've heard too much
of war remains
and hunger pangs and pain,
of lovers gone
and friends betrayed
of castle ruins and rain.
this world is fair
in morning light
in ev'ning's purple shine
the shadows are not
closing in
but rather passing by.
a kiss is not
a harsh rebuke
a hint of pain to come
but more a taste
of sparkling wine
a wink, a smile, a laugh.
and thinking of
the past is not
to revisit mistakes
but rather mem'ries
good and light
as dear to heart as this.
this - you, this - us
this nameless thing,
this comfort, tenderness
this drowsy look
of happiness
is good, is clean, divine.
your lips are red
a smiling bow
as perfect as a rose
and purple, crimson
matters not
as not all red is blood.
this war we fight
is not without
an end or hope thereof
so stop this look
of doom and gloom
and kiss me, oh my love!

I'm so fed up with "Voldie is going to kill us all, destroy Hogwarts, rule the world and hold our beloved ones as slaves". Gah. This eternal doom is slowly getting on my nerves.
By the way, the poem is intended to be said by Snape - to Harry, of course.
And I should be doing more sensible things, like reading my e-mail or working on that site update, not experimenting with metre. *sigh*
