Today was open day in our mother house in K. Unfortunately, I was too nice two months ago when they asked for volunteers willing to man the money laundering room, and couldn't get out of it. I had to get up at 5:45 a.m. in order to meet up with a colleague and the official car, and have just returned home one hour ago.
Well, at least it wasn't as boring as I'd feared, I finally got to see a money sniffer dog in action, the food was good (waffles! Chinese food!), and everyone went ooh! and aah! over the washing machine with the fake money inside.
No, seriously, the organizers went to a lot of trouble, decorated the rooms really nice (and informative, too!), provided a helicopter, squad cars (which were a huge hit with the kids who got to ride around a bit with the Mars lights flashing and the sirens wailing) and shows by the tobacco, drug and money sniffer dogs as well as of the special mission unit who evidently used flash grenades and shotguns - considering we all looked around wildly when the building shook, I'm inclined to believe it. *g*
Plus, weseduced at least two graduates over to the dark side explained to two graduates what they'd have to expect if they decided to join the German customs service. Heh.
