I just wrote two ficlets set during the movie "Napola" because [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx and the muses were so damn convincing:

Winter Dreams
Author: allaire mikháil
Fandom: Napola
Pairing: Friedrich / Albrecht
Rating: PG-13
Summary: He dreams of what he should have done.
Beta thanks to: [livejournal.com profile] temve
240 words, Friedrich POV.

Winter's Touch
Author: allaire mikháil
Fandom: Napola
Pairing: Friedrich / Albrecht, Friedrich & other (slash & het)
Rating: R
Summary: A piece of that winter day is lodged in his heart just like the shard of ice in the tale of the Snow Queen.
Beta thanks to: [livejournal.com profile] temve
1.473 words, Friedrich POV.

I should have cleaned the living room. Gone to bed early. Thrown my computer out of the window (there's still a fucked-up folder among my recreated data, argh, and I cannot delete it! Shoot me, please!). Prepared for tomorrow's gaming session (which I, by the way, mixed up with another, so I hope one of the guys can forgive me and do without my presence, since even I, Queen of Chaos, haven't managed the feat of being in two places at the same time). Phoned my friends at whose place I stayed over the weekend (gaming session! Yay!) and found out whether Allaire managed to behead that damned skeleton and save her friend, or whether her sister-in-arms was slain by the Zombie queen's magic. Urgh.

I'm making even less sense than usual.

I so need sleep. I so need a new head. I so need a new computer. And a clone to answer my mail.

Any volunteers/providers for any of the above?

edit: Netscape died on me again. Bye-bye, mail of the last two weeks. Crap. What a crappy day.

I got here via the Querstrich mailing list, and just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the Napola drabbles! It's great to read something based on that movie, and I really like your writing style. :)

Hi sandrine,

thanks for your post... and [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx is right -- evidently this is no longer a fandom of one. *g*

I've discovered an unsettling fascination of mine recently with the themes of snow and cold, both in the literal and in the figurative sense. First in my two Hornblower ficlets (here and here), then in the Herr der Ringe story, "Das Blut Isildurs", and now again, twice, in Napola. Strange. I bet Freud would have something to say about that. ;-)

Btw, I like your icon, and am devastated to discover that I don't know all the pairings depicted. Oh, the shame! *eg*

That might be because most of the pairings are really obscure. It starts off with Simon/Leon from Verschollen (which, sadly actually is a fandom of one), then there's Witt/Welsh from The Thin Red Line, Death/Rudolf from the musical Elisabeth (respectively Uwe Kröger/Jesper Tydén), Deacon/Rick from The Bold and the Beautiful, Mulder/Krycek from The X Files (I suppose that one was obvious), and Zeke/Jack from The Cape.

Also, I re-do this icon a lot because I'm fickle like that and some new obscure pairing catches my interest every other week or so. :P

I wish I had the time to write someone on Napola myself. At the moment, unfortunately, I don't, so I have to content myself squeeing over your drabbles. Not a fandom of one? Did anyone else write something, then? *hopeful look*

As for the snow/coldness theme - I would only worry about it when it sticks with your writing in summer. ;)

Would be nice, but the answer seems to be: No. Unfortunately.
What Allaire meant was simply that there is more than one slasher interested in Friedrich/Albrecht, that's all. (and Hi!, btw *g*)

This is just typical! One of these days, I'll get involved in a huuuuge fandom and will obsess about the most popular pairing. It's going to happen. One day. Until then, I'll get hopelessly frustrated waiting for fic in fandoms hardly anyone knows about.... *sighs*

Tell me. I just stumble from one small fandom to the next right now. I hardly read fic anymore because there is none.
Btw, I just posted a Napola Story in my lj. It's German though *g*

One of these days, I'll get involved in a huuuuge fandom and will obsess about the most popular pairing. It's going to happen. One day.

Only if you fall for one of the old ones *g* I don't know, besides SG:A, I haven't seen a "new" big fandom in a while. And SG:A is only so big, because it caught a lot of the SG writers. Otherwise... Lost is relatively big, but only produces short fics.. and there are too many pairings.

Until then, I'll get hopelessly frustrated waiting for fic in fandoms hardly anyone knows about.... *sighs*

You could write something yourself? *hopeful look*

Ok, apart from the obvious (XF - Mulder/Krycek), I'm still pretty much in the dark. ;-)

I know what you mean about your weakness for obscure pairings. I often discover the same. *sigh*

If you decide to ever change your stand on writing some Napola fiction yourself, I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx would be delighted.

No more snow/ice/coldness fiction in the next year or so. Promise. That's my New Year's resolution. ;-)

If I get around to writing some Napola fic, I'll remember to let her know. :)

I actually like ice/coldness as a metapher in fiction. At the moment, it's more the literal snow/ice that's upsetting me. *sighs*

You really rock!!!

concerning Winter Dreams:

This ficlet is for xkatjafx and her "fandom of one". *g* Hope you like it!

"Like" doesn't cut it. "Love it!!!" fits so much better *g* And hey, it seems to be more a fandom of *six* or so by now *g*

In his dreams, they lie down on their cots and span the distance between their beds with their arms, link their fingers, never let go, and Albrecht smiles at him despite his chattering teeth.

awww *melts into a puddle of goo*

I really liked the end. It's an interesting way to differ from the original plot - where I was always waiting for him to have a vision of Albrecht during the last fight.. that never came. damn *g*.

About Winter's Touch:

You know, I'm still not sure if I should hug or kick you *g* To write that het bunny, you were teasing me with? Evil.

And the damn thing works, because it's a perfect AU ending. So yes, I really love this one, too.

Friedrich sleeping with Albrecht's mother - but it means nothing. Besides maybe having a part of Albrecht back... and hurting her and Heinrich in the long run. Just great.

Sometimes, he wants revenge on them both so much he has to bury his hands under the pillow as to not send his boxer's fists into her face, and damage her as irreversibly as he feels himself damaged.

*sigh* love it.

Also loved the Snow Queen reference. Fit's perfectly : )

Yay for the successes of aggressive pimping! So, where's the homepage? Where's the story archive? Btw, where's [livejournal.com profile] i_am_schizo's drabble?!

(And no, evidently there's no transcript or script online. I searched for it yesterday.)

I really liked the end. It's an interesting way to differ from the original plot - where I was always waiting for him to have a vision of Albrecht during the last fight.. that never came. damn *g*.

I had the ficlet's first line in my head since the restaurant, which is why I disappeared so quickly. And the rest just wrote itself. *g*

You know, I'm still not sure if I should hug or kick you *g* To write that het bunny, you were teasing me with? Evil.

That's the new evil me.

Also loved the Snow Queen reference. Fit's perfectly : )

That one crept in somehow, because I kept thinking of a certain children's book my brother and I used to have. *smile*

No, you get the thing next week, promised.

Yay for the successes of aggressive pimping! So, where's the homepage? Where's the story archive?

Well, right now I'm still not sure if it's really of any use. 2 Stories? Maybe a third, if I really write mine... I think there should be at least five for an archive. (but I keep it in mind)

Btw, where's i_am_schizo's drabble?!

on my hard drive? *g*

no surprise.
Gah, I also *really* really want to vid, but since German films usually have long runs in the theaters, it might take longer than usual for the DVD to come out *headdesk*

Sadly, I'm not sure I'm motivated enough for 1.000 words <goes muse-hunting>

Hey, I think I'll rather let you keep your bribe for now. I like DH, but not so much I have to have all movies he ever starred in. No, I believe it'd be better for me to hang onto that intangible favor you owe me now... perhaps I'll cash it in once I find myself a new fandom-of-one? *beg*

(Now why does that remind me of Fraser and Ray playing for "air" in the last scene of the Lady Shoes episode?)

Hehe.

Hi,

so, so, [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx hat also wieder aktive Fananwerbung für "Napola" betrieben, ja? ;-)

i will be saving your Napola fics in my hard drive. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. omg, where art thou fandom?! please write more. actually, you're the only person i know who writes Friedrich/Albrecht. thatisjustsosad. we need manpower!

seriously though, i admire your writing style. i like how you economize words and stay away from clichés. wish i can read more of your writing but i can't understand German. (maybe i should start learning the language)

Wow, [livejournal.com profile] sathien, thanks! I'm glad you liked them!

If I may ask, do you know the movie? Was it shown in your country's cinemas, and if so, when? (Just to assuage my curiousity. When I wrote both ficlets, I feared "Napola" would never make it abroad, thus making the choice to write in English instead of German utterly, well, stupid, but somehow the first lines came to me in English, and I had to continue that way.)

wish i can read more of your writing but i can't understand German.

The majority of my stories is in English ([livejournal.com profile] allaire, trolling for readers *eg*), but the odd story idea comes to me now and then and insists on being in German. Hmpf. Well.

*is thrilled because of your feedback*
[identity profile] sathien.livejournal.com wrote:

it was shown in our eurofilm class. i don't think it will ever be shown here in our theaters as we're not big on german films and the art film festivals are rarely publicized.. sad :(

from your page i got to xkatjafx's journal btw and she (i assume) directed me to a linkpage for all Napola slashgoods out there, which shall suffice for the day at least but then i'll soon be back craving for more.. *hint hint* ;) so please write more!!

Yup, that must have been [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx.

so please write more!!

Sadly, that's unlikely at the moment, but I'm not going to say "never". *g*

oh and we should put up a fansite or something! i am soooo feeling the love.

That would surely gain you [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx's undying love and devotion (if I remember correctly, there was a time she'd have offered her firstborn in trade *beg*), and hey, I'd like that, too. :-))) With lots of nice graphics.
