About two hours ago, my phone rang, and when I picked up the mobile unit to answer, I discovered that the rechargeable battery had run out (again), so I couldn't answer.
My mother was on the line and left a message on my answering machine, telling me she had a "great surprise" that she refused to impart on the phone, and that I should call her back as soon as possible.
When I retrieved my e-mail for the xth time today, I got a message from my brother bearing the confusing subject line of "Thanks & aunt". Going 'huh', I opened it, and was stunned speechless:
My brother tells me that in October, I'm going to be an aunt.
Okay. Not what I expected at all. Still speechless.

Und davon hat die Familie wie gesagt erst erfahren, als bereits 9 Monate rum waren. Inzwischen könnt er den Kleinen auch gar nicht mehr verleugnen, selbst wenn er's wollte (keine Sorge, will er nicht *gg*). Aber ich hock halt so in Australien, inner Bücherei und krieg endlich mal ne Email von meinem Bro. Und was schreibt er? Eine DIN A4 Seite nur über das Wetter in Deutschland. Ich denk noch so "was will der Junge mir sagen?". Und in der letzten Zeile steht sowas wie "übrigens bist du Tante eines 9 Monate alten Babys". Dass die Geschichte wahr ist und welches Geschlecht besagtes "Baby" überhaupt hat, musste ich von meiner Mum erfahren...
Wobei ich sagen muß, daß eine 3-zeilige e-mail im 3. Monat von L.s Schwangerschaft mich jetzt auch nicht vom Hocker reißt... Eine e-mail, die zwar nicht mit einem Wetterbericht beginnt, aber damit mit Dank für die Osterschokolade, die ich den beiden geschenkt hatte.
Mütter sind da irgendwie weniger komisch als Brüder, oder?
Ich schätze, das ist ein Naturgesetz.
Aber ist doch nett von ihm, sich bei dir zu bedanken (so nach dem Motto "meine Freundin wurde fett, aber nicht von deiner Schokolade")... ;-)
