Okay, not died died, but the monitor port is certainly dead. I tried connecting my old non-LCD monitor after my LCD screen suddenly went grey, and since that didn't work either, the only logical conclusion is that the port has kicked the bucket.
So now I have a blank screen and can only connect to the internet - and to my D:\ drive - via my laptop.
The fun part is that a) I cannot download anything that doesn't fit onto my minuscule laptop hard drive, and b) I cannot continue writing my story that I was smart enough (argh! We even talked about it tonight!) to only save to my private user profile on C:\.
My laptop is connected to my computer via a wireless network, but as I said, I only gave it access to D:\, arguing that the data on C:\ was too sensitive to allow access from a remote machine.

Da ich ja so'n Computer-Depp bin, dürfte ich grad mal fragen, ob C:\ generell ein schlechter Platz ist? Weil bei mir sind auch alle Dateien (fics halt und so, eh?) auf C:\ soweit ich weiß, wenn auch nicht in diesem "Eigene Dateien" Ding, was immer das überhaupt genau besonderes is'. Bei mir tut der das automatisch unter C:\ speichern, glaub' ich. Hab' ehrlich gesagt noch nie so drauf geachtet, aber ich glaub', es ist immer'n C:\ vorne dran...
JA, bin halt Comp-Depp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wenn bei mir irgendwas sterben würde, könnt' ich jedenfalls net sagen, woran's liegen könnte, weil ich echt null Peilung hab'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! o.O
Mein Problem ist halt einfach, daß ich auf C:\ (und damit unter anderem auf meine Story) nicht zugreifen kann, da ich C:\ damals nicht ans Netzwerk habe dranhängen lassen.
Ganz generell muß man aber sagen, daß - wenn etwas kaputtgeht - es wahrscheinlich die C:\ Festplatte (und jetzt meine ich keine Partition, sondern tatsächlich eine zweite Festplatte) mit dem Betriebssystem ist, die den Bach runtergeht. Ergo, auf C:\ speichern ist ungünstig.
Da ich aber meine 500 GB fast bis zum Ultimo ausschöpfe, hatte ich nicht wirklich eine andere Wahl. Am Mo. morgen fahre ich mit dem Computer im Gepäck zum Media-Markt (meine Bring-Garantie ist natürlich um gerade 4 Monate vorbei :::stöhn:::).
Bei mir speichert der halt automatisch nach C:\. Wüsste auch nicht wie man das überhaupt ändert... o.O
Äh, ich drück' dir die Däumchen, dass der Media-Markt deine files retten kann!!!
Offensichtlich ist der Mini-Ventilator der Graphikkarte hinüber, und es hat das Ding gegrillt. Morgen werde ich also nur mit der Graphikkarte bewaffnet zum Media-Markt marschieren und eine neue kaufen.
Drück mir die Daumen, daß das hilft, um das Ding wieder zum Laufen zu bringen!

I'll bring the computer to Media-Markt on Monday morning, and then you can keep your fingers crossed for me that it won't cost too much and that they'll manage to repair it without, say, deleting the contents of my hard drives!
