Regret, Reformation and Recompense.
That's what I've always thought it would take for Mulder to forgive Krycek.
Now, reading this and this, I'm quite certain that I feel the same applies to the Holmes/Watson pairing. After Reichenbach, how else could Watson forgive Holmes' betrayal if the latter didn't beg forgiveness, didn't promise to never do something similar again, and didn't offer satisfaction?
Somehow I was certain I would be able to express these requirements in an allusion to Fraser's "Five 'P's", and hello, here we are.
Any story in which one of the a/m actions doesn't happen leaves a bad taste in my mouth, for how else can a relationship be repaired/built? Where would be the trust and the certainty that the future wouldn't bring even more hurt? Where would be the emotional stability?
I'm in a strange mood today. I don't want to watch tv, and yet I don't feel like reading, although I should. :::sigh:::
And if I drink yet another cup of black tea, the caffeine in my bloodstream will outweigh the red blood cells. :::headdesk:::
