I was a bit optimistic when I wrote my last entry; it took the TARGA computer support service 15 days until I got my computer back. And even then, it didn't work correctly. They'd exchanged the DVD drive and reinstalled Windows ME, and claimed that, hardware-wise, everything was ok and if I still had problems, it was software-related. They wanted me to call the (of course chargeable) software support hotline for it, claiming that .php files never ever could have been shown by a normal Windows computer... a whole damned fairytale. After all, mine had shown them before! Idiots. So I re-formatted C:\ (by now I can do it in my sleep), reinstalled ME, and now it more or less works. I still have crashes now and then, most especially in relation with SmartFTP, but now I'm fed up. I'll work around it. Somehow. But I most definitely will not give back the computer to the TARGA guys. They had it for two weeks -- and as for repairs, did what could have been done in 15 minutes, here in my apartment. Heck, I could have exchanged the DVD-drive! By now, I've removed and put in again both the CD burner (countless times) and the D:\ harddrive (twice) -- give me a screwdriver and a flashlight, and voilà!

I'm way behind in my e-mails. <sigh>

Plus, I'm missing "Firefly - Episode 1.05 (Out of Gas)" in my collection; I can't seem to either find a server to download it from, or get on the few that still have it. Nobody else I know seems to have it either. Heck.

Work-wise, I now have 149 pages of an English text on my desk, waiting for me to summarize it in German on no more than 4 pages. Great. Well, my own fault, I guess.

Last but not least, I just ate dinner and wondered what kept crunching so strangely in my mouth -- now I know. I evidently managed to lose part of a teeth filling, and the resulting hole feels like a damned crater. Hopefully I'll manage to get a dentist's appointment tomorrow morning. Stupid plastic fillings -- they just don't last.
