The 'NCIS' fandom burps. Again.

[livejournal.com profile] taylorgibbs announces her intent to leave the NCIS fandom in a huff.

My heart bleeds. So much. NCIS is the most fucked-up fandom ever, and I count The X-Files ("rape is the most perfect expression of love ever!") and The Magnificent Seven ("beating you up will be forgotten instantly as long as we apologize each time!") as runner-ups only. 98% of all authors active in it must be wearing blinders and standing on their heads 24/7 in order to produce the stylistic bloopers we've all been regaled with over the years.

Churning out unbalanced, one-sided drivel like tomorrow it'll be out of fashion certainly hasn't helped the fandom, or the spam-content of my inbox.

Not that [livejournal.com profile] taylorgibbs is an irredeemable bad writer. She isn't. I like a couple of her stories. But a bit more care and thought going into her work - as opposed to mere volume - certainly would help. Plus, you know, considering other people's feelings as to what they want or don't want to be bombarded with. Pairing-specific mailing lists are... I don't know, pairing-specific for a reason?!

The best comment on that topic, however, was that the only feedback one is supposed to write in reaction to a story is a nice one. Criticism? Pah, humbug. We don't need no shitty criticism - after all, we're already perfect!
