So, I have my long-awaited new kitchen. Its front is a glossy lime-green with plumtree wood sides, and I like it very much. :::pets:::
It was delivered on Monday. What I liked less, of course, was that I've had to call the assemblymen three times since then, because on Tuesday I was stunned to discover that they had measured wrong (made the countertop too wide), and therefore I was unable to open the fridge/freezer combination. The evening after they'd corrected that, I did some washing-up in the sink - only to be greeted with a tidal wave originating from the kitchen cabinet under the sink because the assemblymen had forgotten to reconnect the siphon to the drain. Duh. I used up a few kilometers of kitchen roll and all my towels trying to wipe up the new lake in my kitchen. They came by the next day in order to pry off the plinth panel so I could make sure everything was dry, only to almost slip in a new puddle of water the next day because there was water forming between the washing machine and the rightmost kitchen cabinet. So they came by again on Thursay, and we discovered that apparently the tube leading into the washing machine had somehow become loose (they blamed the movers, I silently blamed them).
Anway, (:::knocks on wood:::), hopefully everything finally is okay. Or dry, at least. *g*
My shower is finally usable, too - I've bought a shower curtain, sweated and cursed while I put up the angled shower curtain rod with ceiling support, and those Duschfüchse really aren't half stupid. Now I only have to find some kind of clips to affix to the tiles in the lefthand corner of the shower where I can tuck in the edge of the curtain so I won't flood the bathroom. Argh.
Then, yesterday I tried to affix a hair filter to the shower drain, and managed to disconnect the drainage pipe from the drain. It dropped into the hollow space underneath the shower basin, and I was so afraid water would flow out and flood it and possibly the floor underneath mine. The plumbers said they wouldn't be able to come by until Thursday, so I pulled myself together, cut out the one tile that had been affixed with softer sealant, managed to access the space underneath the shower basin, reconnected the drainage pipe, and patted myself on the shoulder. Yay, go me! Take that, shower! Take that, Murphy!
Yes, apparently Murphy's Law has discovered a liking for me. Drat. It feels like a bull's eye permanently painted on my back.
Would it really be too much to ask for a few days without a disaster of the household kind? Or of any kind, really?

I certainly hope the amount of household disaster has gone down to an absolute minimum since this entry. ;-)
Thanks! :-)
