edit 05 Jul 2009: The finished story clocks at 7,887 words. Pre-beta, that is. We'll see whether it'll end up being longer or shorter afterwards. Oof. I think the story needs a couple of outtakes, because I could have said so much more on several occasions. Heck, I wanted to.
