I hate, hate, hate post-"Voldemort-attacked-the-wizarding-community and has-now-erected-his-own-lunatic-realm-of-fear" fiction. Harry always ends up prisoner who, despite his initial 'misgivings', falls in love with his captor of choice (pick either Draco, Snape or Lucius here). Makes me want to hurl. Authors, can you say "Stockholm Syndrome"? Well, I can. No relationship starts out like that. Any given 'consent' under those circumstances is just a farce and a cover for rape.
Reading such a story makes me mad and plot scenarios in which Harry simply grabs a handgun and blasts them all away. Yeah, that's sick, too. But way more excusable.

Of course, I rather read those stories than all the sugary Snapes who want nothing more than to become Harry's cuddle-monster snuggle-bunny. :D
Will you be reccing Harry/Snape stories on the Campsite? Just asking.... (whistles)
Want to. But so far, I'm horribly, horribly lazy. I haven't update the site in months, and right now, I'm sitting in front of my computer in my pyjamas and still haven't had that shower I wanted to have since getting up in the morning -- can you say 'little self-control'? Well, I can. <sigh> I think I need a good kick in the ass
:D
Well, you asked for it.
Mebbe you could return the favor. My 'lazyness' is more like insanity induced mania. The overwhelming need to give every guy an epic. SHould really learn to finish a story before starting a new one.
But Snape is so adorable...
*glares*
*sighs*
*hugs Viccy*
Hey, I asked for it, didn't I? :-)
And I love your epics! I'm always so disappointed to find a good story only to learn that it... ends! after mere 40 KB! Epics are fine. Epics are glorious.
*kicks Viccy's ass*
C'mon, write more! *g*
And yeah, Snape is adorable. I'll admit I'd have never though that before seeing Alan Rickman on screen, but now... whooo! Dark, mysterious past, mistakes made, prickly character, closed-off hero... mjam. Want that.
I need help.
Heh. Didn't mean to kick you THAT hard. Hope I didn't bruise you. :P
*sighs*
Nope, wasn't that tragic. ;-)
Anyway, Viccy, you are simply cruel! How can you taunt me with 430 (!!!) KB of an unfinished HP/SS fic, and say it's not even remotedly close to being finished?! That...that...that's just unfair! *pouts*
You know, I wouldn't be completely adverse to reading it beforehand... *whistles innocently*
Have I already said that I envy you your muses? Epics, oh my...
Tormentors, I'd say. I always try to wite simple, shortish fics, and BANG! I keep writing and writing and...
With this fic, I'm just afraid people will drop it after reading a hundred pages of plot and character stuff with no big sex scenes.
HAH! You said it! //dances happily// Want to guess if I'll nag you to read the darn thing as soon as I finish the next chapter?
//kicks the muses//
Drop a hot look or a short kiss here and there, or at least an even remotedly desiring thought, and I don't see any kind of problem. After all, this fandom is not very ripe with plot; mostly it's just concerned with either the past (mostly Snape's) or the development of the relationship. Hence, most stories don't get over the 100 KB threshold. So -- your story ought to be a delightful difference.
*guesses wildly*
*looks up triumphantly*
*also kicks Viccy's muses*
Can't wait to read it! :-)))
Now the muses want to dress up like dementors. I look at them, think of them as the Nazgul, and want to slash them all together. SO there!
And HAH! My Snape is the canon one, so no hot kisses or lustful thoughts. Well... Actually no. Not even one. No one lusts after anyone. Yet.
It's pathetic. I wanted to give them hot sex and low angst, and what do I get? Angstorama with weirdness. A story of true love and not the cotton candy version of it.
//slams head on the wall// ouch. That hurts.
No secret lusting? Too bad. :-(
Angst is good. True love is even better. So stop slamming your head against the wall, baby. :-)
So, off I am. Weekend at my parents.
I don't deny any author to write whatever he/she wants (as long as it's not totally sick like kiddie porn), but he/she should put up enough warnings to inform the readers what they're going to get into.
Still, I don't see the appeal of such stories. Or the reason anyone should write them.
But then, I'm always the 'happy-endings' sort of gal...
