...I'd take it all back.
Or, in short, I wouldn't get a second cat. Or, at the very least, not one from a certain cattery.
Yuki is still sick, and she hasn't gotten any better. By now, she can hardly breathe through her nose (despite taking four different medications, an antibiotic, and inhaling 1-2 times a day) and sounds like a miniature version of Darth Vader. She's still hungry, curious, and playful (and keeps annoying Elena, although Elena has relaxed a little and is up for being petted a bit again), and streaked through my front door when I made the mistake of not closing it fast enough (I had to run up to the second floor in hot pursuit before I managed to scoop her up). However, by now she has a fungal infection in her ears (which I blame on the antibiotic) that I have to treat with a liniment, and her lack of a reaction to her medications gives reason to believe that she might either be infected with Chlamydophila felis or Felid herpesvirus 1 (FeHV-1) (Chlamydiose or Herpes). I had the respective tests taken yesterday at the vet's (and paid an arm and a leg for it, it feels like) and hopefully :::knocks on wood::: will get the results at the end of the week. If Yuki tests positive for Chlamydiose, apparently not only she, but also Elena and possibly I will need to be treated with antibiotics. Considering I wake with a sore throat and have a bit of a cough, I seriously can't rule it out, and it makes me all anxious.
In addition to it, I now have four raised spots on my body (left forearm, left armpit, right thigh, left thigh) that are about half a centimeter in diameter, don't have a puncture spot in the middle, and don't itch, and am, frankly, at a loss. Are they bites from mites? Fleas? Something else? If so, what? Whatever it is, I can't have gotten it from Yuki (otherwise they'd have shown up three weeks ago), so it must come from the vet. Supposedly, bites from mites and fleas (thank you, Google!) look entirely different as well as itch like mad. I'm perplexed. I don't have allergies. Like, ever. Should the spots multiply overnight (again), I'll have to visit a dermatologist tomorrow.
My boss called me early this evening to ask how I was (I've handed in a medical certificate declaring me sick for this week at work - mainly a precation due to the suspected Chlamydiose I can't rule out yet) and whether me calling in sick was due to the situation at work. Frankly, at the moment, work (and certain idiotic colleagues) are the last thing on my mind. I'd much rather face them than the Neverending Story Of Yuki's Illnesstm.
I want this shit to be OVER.
I like Yuki, sure, and I don't want to give her back now that Elena finally seems to warm up to her (a little). She's small, she's cute, she's a bundle of energy, and she's cuddly as hell.
But seriously? If I'd been aware of the huge invisible albatross around her neck the day my mother bought her for me, I so wouldn't have taken her. I'd have the fucking breeder licked to death by her own cats if I could, dammit.
So much for the sense of getting a cat from a reputable breeder you know. I guess I'd have been better off with a kitten from a stranger off the internet.

Also, if Yuki has Chlamydias or herpes, she got it from some other cat that woman has bred, so she should be made aware there is some disease making the rounds in her animals.
I hope everything works out again, especially with you and Yuki. You know Spock had those stupid Giardias when I took him in, it cost me a lot of money, it was at times really nasty, and it was a lot of work to get rid of them, but I never wished I'd not taken him in. Sometimes these things just happen, and you shouldn't project it on the little one, especially because they tend to feel something is wrong.
