Today was really nice.
My old boss from my last place of work phoned me about two weeks ago and sort of invited himself and his wife over for coffee today. Therefore yesterday was a bit of chaotic since I didn't only go watch "An Angel for May" with
mamoru22,
_wyrd_sister_ and one of their friends in F., but also had to hurry back home afterwards to bake my first cake in the new oven here and do a cleaning sweep to make the apartment presentable. <g>
Today, I rushed home early and awaited my visitors (thank God for flexitime!). We had coffee and then they showed me a lot of the area around W. since they'd both lived here in the mid-70s and have made several trips here since then because they like the area. Astonishing -- just a few kilometers beyond the city limits, there's a whole new world. Small, pitoresque little villages, lots of vineyards and a beautiful landscape... We had dinner in a wine restaurant, sitting in its vine-covered garden, then drove back to W.'s city center to the city's annual wine festival.
The whole day had a dreamily, vacation-like atmosphere; I still feel relaxed despite having woken up in the middle of the night -- I had to take some pain-killers in order to be able to sleep (damn headache!).
I hope we'll repeat that one day. It's late, but I'm ok.
I need to pack; I'll drive to my parents' place over the weekend. Tomorrow, I'll stop on the way there to show my old apartment to some interested parties, hoping like hell someone'll take it including my old kitchen, the carpets, the like. We'll see. I'll also hope I won't run into a traffic jam on the way there -- because if I do, I'll scream in frustration! I can't afford to be late. Afterwards, I'll meet with a part of my former colleagues for dinner. Should be fun. :-)
And on Sunday, there'll be my father's huge birthday party (he turns 59). Heh. I now have a bottle of good red local wine for him. And my brother will get a huge decorative plate full of ice-cream in various flavors -- wonder whether we'll manage to eat it all. *grin*
Oh. I mustn't forget to take the rest of my cake to work tomorrow, or it'll go bad over the weekend.
