Wow, I seem to be online with my new computer now. Hmmm...
edit: Crap. Of course something had to go wrong -- I have the flabbergasting connection speed of 100 MBit/s, and no-one can tell me why. I had to stop the Windows Update since I didn't intend to spend the rest of today downloading a handful of files.
Hate, hate, hate the wireless ADSL router.
edit 2: Research on the 'net seems to suggest that the problem is caused by the computer port connected with the router. There's "LAN" written next to it, but I believe it to be the Fast Ethernet port, which can't accept but a maximum transfer rate of 100 Mbit/s, while my provider gives me 1.056 Mbit/s as maximum transfer rate.
So where's the fucking "WLAN" the computer supposedly has? Huh?
::confused much::
edit 3: Oops. Forgot that Kbit comes after bit, meaning my provider gives me 1.056 Kbit = approx. 1,1 Mbit as maximum transfer rate.
Still, every webpage I attempted to open in my browser took ages to load -- the whole thing reminded me of my parents' connection speed, and they have a 56 KB modem. :-(
Furthermore, my new computer doesn't have a WLAN, since evidently Media Markt screwed up. They printed the catalogue with the computer having a WLAN port on the front side, they had supposedly identical computers with said WLAN standing around as example PCs, but they... somehow sold me one without. Great. Now I got a USB WLAN stick as compensation. Thanks so much.
I'll never, ever buy a computer, or heck, anything, there again.
Last but not least, I almost broke my back an hour ago when I carried PC and ADSL wireless router to the car, drove to Media Markt and told them to fix whatever it is that's wrong with the damned things.
I'm so fed up. And everyone tells me my old computer was a pain in the ass.

So, how was the Slash-Stammtisch?
Then, we had the obligatory Stargate: Atlantis session and overwhelmed
Damn. I still haven't seen that one.
