Ok, I finally got around to re-installing my computer on which they've exchanged the C:\ hard drive and the graphics card.
Mozilla Thunderbird uses another directory than Netscape to save its data.
I backed up the wrong folder.
I lost all my e-mails since March 3rd, 2005.
I could fucking shoot myself right now.
edit: I wasn't aware until now how catastrophic it actually is -- I lost at least two Amazon gift certificates, the new access data for my homepage, one or two DVD orders (where? what? no idea anymore), several LOCs/feedback for my stories, everything surrounding our 10-years-out-of-school anniversary planning, and, and, and...

Klar kommt das etwas spät, aber es gibt ein tolles kleines Programm, das völlig automatisch alles speichert, was Du in Thunderbird gespeichert haben wolltest (Emails, Adressbuch, etc.) - MozBackup 1.4.
Außerdem empfehle ich Dir dringend die kostenlose (private user) Version von "Acronis TrueImage", das ein Abbild Deiner Festplatte kompakt auf DVD unterbringen kann (oder, falls kein DVD-Brenner vorhanden, es CD-gerecht aufteilt).
Ich bin total paranoid, was meine Daten angeht. Einmal im Monat Komplett-Backup auf DVD-RW ist das mindeste. Wichtige Files speichere ich zusätzlich an drei verschiedenen Stellen im Internet...
