Moving sucks. Big time. #2

It's now been almost two weeks since my last lj enty, and those two weeks haven't exactly been boring. After clearing out my room in Cologne, I (with the help of [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx and mamoru -- thank you, girls!) painted my new apartment, once again in sunny yellow, orange and apple green, and yes, it does look good, even if it's me saying that! The same day, my parents came and put in the carpets. The following Tuesday, I met the moving company in my old place and tried not to get too much underway while they packed everything up. Due to the fact that it took them a lot longer than expected, and that they had a traffic accident on the road to W., they left at about 21.30 p.m. with a lot of boxes still unpacked. I then spent the next days unpacking (and cursing the fact that they hadn't labeled the boxes!) and was very relieved my parents drove up here a second time to help me put up the shelves, lamps, things like that.

And couldn't trust my eyes when my father drilled some holes into my living room wall to put in the rawlplugs to support the above-mentioned shelves -- and broke through the wall so we could look into my neighbor's apartment! I still can't believe it. That wall can't be much thicker than 7 centimeters! But evidently my neighbor's away over the weekend since so far I haven't heard a furious yell from next door yet. <eg> Really -- funny. Not.

My apartment still looks like it'd been hit by a hurricane -- chaos everywhere -- but things can only get better now. At the beginning, when I saw all those piled up boxes, I was on the verge of breaking out into helpless tears. Now, I'm only resigned, not depressed anymore.

Moving sucks. But I already mentioned that.

And tomorrow'll be my first day at my new work place. We'll see how that'll turn out.

I swear I won't move for at least 5 years. That's the shortest interval after which I can envision ever going through that again. <groans>

Now excuse me. I'll have to reconnect my TV, DVD-player and VCRs. Wouldn't want to miss 'Action' tomorrow night.
And after that, some CDs labeled 'Shirayukihime Prétear' (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx!) are waiting for me. Yay. :-)))

Hey, hope you've settled in a bit by now and that you like your new apartment. You know, reading to this I might change my mind about moving soon but I want to, as the area I live in gets worse and worse, though I still love my apartment.
In the last ten years I don't think I've stayed for longer than 3 years in one apartment, at least all those moves were smaller ones, within easy driving distance and not cross-country.

Moving-hurricane is normal. I usually start with the important stuff and ignore the rest . I still have boxes in my basement that I only recently looked into because I decided to sell parts of it on Ebay.

What did the neighbour say to the hole in the wall?

How are you liking work so far?

I'm currently experiencing the 'I-still-have-things-in-boxes', too. ;-)
Unfortunately, for lack of a cellar, I still have said two boxes in a corner of my living room plus a pile of unsorted papers in my cupboard. Apart from that, I think I'm now finished. Yay! <big grin>

I found out that the appartment next to mine is unoccupied and being renovated at the moment. I guess they just closed the hole from their side without wondering too much about it. ;-)

Work's more or less ok. My boss told me that my knowledge of English is very appreciated at higher places, and that I now may start doing more demanding work, not the standard cases. We'll see. My roommate is on vacation, so I'm feeling a bit lonely at work, but my direct supervisor is ok. He reminds me of a friend of mine (sounds exactly the same, too!), and he's fun
