Last Saturday I celebrated my birthday with my friends and family at my parents' house. Even Frank and Maria came and stayed for three and two days respectively. For once, no one played shy wallflower (Frank and Juliane drew in even those who usually sit in a corner and smile), and I only regretted that Rebekka, her husband and her son had to leave so soon (yes, 6-year-olds do have a set bedtime, I know). My older brother and my sister-in-law are up North because she's started a new job there and therefore weren't able to come, but my younger brother hung out with us. Isn't it strange that with the years age differences become less and less important?
My presents consisted mainly of DVDs ("Walk on Water", "House, M.D." Season 1, "Miami Vice" Season 1) and a new "Hillsong Australia" album that I already love.
We ate too much and talked a lot. My parents were very helpful which sometimes makes me feel a bit bad because I am certain they wouldn't clean my room or make my bed if they saw more of me.
On Sunday I met
mareen,
trobadora and
novafairy in N., and we went to see "Good Night And Good Luck" in the cinema. Contrary to drunken mumblings in the front rows, I can solemnly swear that no one of the characters on-screen shot themselves during the movie. Really. *g*
On Monday my mother took me to see her friend - the one with the Charteux cats. Two of her cats had kittens on 01 Apr 2006, and they range in color from beige to darker brown to blue, all still with blue eyes (the ones that are already open, that is). They complained loudly when they were picked up, crawled instead of walking and were nauseatingly cute. Argh. Yes, I'll take one. I'm a sucker for small, cute, furry mammals. As if that were something new.
Afterwards I went to see Sonja and Martin and their newborn daughter Clarissa and ended up carrying her around for the better part of my visit. She has dark hair, sleeps a lot and cries a little when the person holding her sits still. Nonetheless, her parents looked like they weren't yet at the end of their tether and had things well under control.
Babies. Eeep. They are everywhere. Brrrr.
