allaire: (gaypic)
Finally, the monster that has been taking over my life for the past month is done. Due to its length, I won't be posting it directly to my lj, but the story in its entirety is up on my website.

Dea Ex Machina, Dea Sub Iudicio (~ 273 KB)
Author: allaire mikháil
Fandom: The Dresden Files (TV-verse)
Pairing: Harry Dresden/Bob (aka Hrothbert of Bainbridge)
Rating: NC-17
Summary: He knew her by reputation. He had no idea that her arrival would change his world.
Beta thanks to: [livejournal.com profile] temve and [livejournal.com profile] pinkdoom.
47.445 words, crossover with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, secondary pairing: Willow Rosenberg/Kennedy, Harry POV, set post-S1 of The Dresden Files and post-S7 of Buffy (spoilers!).

The story notes (and yes, that's a first time, too) can be found here.

The story has also been uploaded to Twisting the Hellmouth, the Buffy/Angel crossover archive, and can be found here. Because of its rating, it only shows up after logging in or upon using the direct link. It is available as well at The Wonderful World of Make-Believe, at this location.

Will be reading the novel at the weekend - time permitting - but have to say (having just read your author notes) I'm gobsmacked that you wrote this in a month AND I'm in awe of your research - then again, I'm a research ho' myself so I know how that bug can bite.

Wow, I guess you couldn't resist and wait until the weekend... *g*
(Not that I ever can when faced with a long story. Usually my hours of sleep have to pay for it.)

Research is strangely addictive, isn't it? And it's so satisfying when the end product is as closely compliant to canon as one can make it.

And I pretty much made you incoherent. I'm so proud! ;-)

I adored this fic, for character, dialogue, romance... damn for everything but especially the way you captured Bob (no pun intended ;-)

I'm glad you liked it!

I needed to unwind at the end of the day yesterday and chose you above TV, which was a good choice. I do think that you did a wonderful *grin* job evoking Harry's place and making Willow and Kennedy's presence seem utterly normal and part of the world we watched on TV. And I think that you managed to encapsulate a great deal of Dresden's world-building and Bob's tragic backstory without it ever feeling like and info dump.

So yes I was a little incoherent. But it the main that was probably because you were so good at capturing Harry's retisence, thoughts feelings and fear and it's that emotional turmoil that the reader most identifies with... somehow.

And the weekend? Well it's the last Doctor Who in the Series...

Thanks! That was hard work, let me tell you, considering that all the characters, at at least one point of the story, wanted to play Captain Exposition. I'm glad the end result appears better to others than it looks to me!

And the weekend? Well it's the last Doctor Who in the Series...

Have fun with that! I don't watch it, but I hear enough from others who do. *g*
